Fantasmagory is the latest launch from Louis Vuitton's Les Extraits collection, signed by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, the perfumer who has been behind the maison's creations for decades. It is sold exclusively in LV boutiques and their official website, in a 100 ml bottle designed by architect Frank Gehry. The price: €545 per bottle.
FRY is not Fantasmagory. It is an honest equivalent — the same olfactory structure, the same dominant notes, the same general sensation — manufactured in Spain, without the layers of packaging, marketing, and boutique that justify the price of the original. The difference between one bottle and another is €515 for 100 ml. The choice is yours.
FRY works best from late afternoon, when the warmth of the skin brings out the creaminess of the almond and the vanilla gains body. In autumn and winter it reaches its best version — the cold makes the leather in the base more noticeable. In summer, it works if applied with a light hand and in moments with little heat: a late dinner, a cool night, an evening in an air-conditioned place.
For balanced projection, two sprays are enough: one on the neck and one on the inner wrist. If you want to play with layers, FRY pairs well with darker vanillas (TBV) or more defined leathers — layer them and the result gains depth without becoming saturated.
